Special Feature: Real Adventure Riding Club ATV Outings, A Great Way to Enjoy Nature

Everywhere my eyes wandered in Keserwan’s cliffs to vigorous pine forests and scenic views near the lake. Our ATV riding group wanted to experience a mountain adventure in Achkout, Feytroun and Wata El Joz. Before embarking on our ATV ride, though, we contacted Real Adventure ATV riding club, the Off-Road Riders, to guide us through the territory. The ATV route system in this area is a little puzzling. So the guides accompanied us for the whole journey.

We gathered in front of Real Adventure Riding Club in Achkout where a fleet of 15 ATVs were at our disposal. But, to get to the quads and the planned riding area, we had to drive about 15 minutes to the region of Wata El Joz. Our first ATV adventure of the day led us across the highway where we maneuvered our quads through narrow gates, around an eternal forest of trees and up the hills. The scenery here is best enjoyed when driving slowly.

After struggling our way up the hill for about an hour, we pulled off the ATV trail for a rest and some water. As we dismounted our quads, we noticed a lake down the valley. We hiked down to reach the lake for a photo opportunity, which wasn't easy in riding boots. The warmth of the day evaporated with every step downward towards the lake, giving us a chance to cool down. We rested only briefly on the shores, because our excitement to see what awaited us on the ATV trail was enticing. We mounted our quads re-helmeted and carried on.

We motored up the ATV trail, bumping into dead-fall wood and massive rocks along the way. Every foot of this trail presented a challenge requiring continuous focus. There weren't many chances to take in the surroundings, so we recommend making frequent stops to enjoy the landscape.

As we moved slowly to the top of the mountain, we again pulled off the ATV trail. The view was superb. The green pine forests stretched forever below us, and the hills plunged up gracefully. With the clear, blue sky as a background, the view was amazing. Looking down, though, was more of an adrenaline rush; the thought of falling from that cliff tweaked us from sleep several times.

After a short break and some cold refreshments, we began our descent, and retracing our route. Taking in the sunset was the highlight! We really enjoyed our time with nature, and the companionship was the icing on the cake, and the end of our adventure concluded back at the club .
